Dogs and kids ... a
perfect match!
Through our fostering and puppy training
programs kids learn how to care for and train dogs. In the process they
develop responsibility, self-esteem, confidence, and appreciation for other living things. Our hope is to contribute to a population of compassionate and caring future
adults, as well as help teach the world the value of these wonderful
creatures.

The Dogs
Can Change A Child's Life Forever

Nancy started fostering,
training and performing with homeless puppies at age 12. At age 14
she has helped 30 puppies that would otherwise be euthanized, or
placed without proper socialization and training and eventually
returned because no one took the time to help the new family to
socialize and train their adopted dog. Our program offers low cost
training for the adoptive families to continue the necessary
socialization and training. Nancy is now an apprentice trainer for
other kids.

Let's teach
our youth to love the animals and the animals will teach our youth
to love all unconditionally!

Elizabeth felt alone
until she met DB Cooper who needed someone to care enough to train
him so he could be adoptable. Elizabeth felt needed, loved,
appreciated and successful. Our kids need to feel they have
something of value to offer.

Families benefit from the love of a new puppy!

After Save A Dog & Kids
gave this new puppy 3 sets of shots/dewormings, microchip, neuter,
crate training, socialization with cats, dogs, kids, strangers and
started him on obedience training, his family told everyone it was
worth flying him out to their home and getting such a perfect family
pup. His mom continued regular socialization at doggie day care,
continued obedience training for the past two years and now feels
that he would make a great Therapy Dog. Angela thinks of Tau as her
son. Congratulations Angela! Your hard work really paid off.

All kids deserve a
chance to develop a positive relationship with a dog. Our Kids Club
kids visit Homeless Kids with their trained puppies and give a
little love to those that have so little.

Graduation 2003 Click on Cassie and Paint our Deaf Puppy
Paint would have been
put down at 8 weeks by his breeder because he was deaf. We knew he
was special and with
hand signal training he could bring lots of love to many. Cassie
accomplished her Baccalaureate Community Program Requirements for
school, and gave Paint a chance to learn what he would need to be
safe.

I am currently working on setting up a therapy
program for our probation kids to train dogs. I am trying to do some
research about how to set up the program and would love to get the
opportunity to speak to you about your program. Is there a time you would
be available to speak to me about your program? I look forward to
speaking to you.

DID
YOU KNOW?
PAWSITIVE PRAISE FOR
PEACE!

What a perfect match: Kids and Dogs!
1. Were you aware that
donations for Charity
and Youth Programs since 2002 are so low that not only
food, clothes and necessities are needed, but all After School Programs for Homeless and Underprivileged kids have been cut.
Federal
research on Anti-gang, Anti-drugs, Anti-violence and Anti-juvenile
delinquency
states that the most successful deterrents are After School
Programs with positive activities for kids. Kids commit most of the
crimes during the hours after school. Help us bring positive
activities to the underprivileged kids at Various Youth Programs /YMCA After School Program, Utah Youth Detention Centers and other
youth facilities of Utah.
Donations, volunteers
and
sponsors are desperately needed.

"A HUMANE EDUCATION TODAY,
YIELDS A MORE COMPASSIONATE SOCIETY TOMORROW"
2. The FBI and ASPCA
Research shows that not only do serial killers, domestic violence, and
child abuse cases have a history of animal abuse, but that the teens
involved in the high school shootings also had a history of animal
mutilation and abuse. In the ASPCA 2000 magazine, each case of high
school shootings documented these important warning signs in the killers'
background:
"Columbine High
School...12 classmates and one teacher were killed....a climactic episode
of more than two years of school violence... were there any warning
signs?"
Yes there were very obvious
warning signs. All the kids involved in school shootings had a
history of animal abuse. Some wrote about it in their journals:
" I beat our family
Lab with a baseball bat, and set him on
fire.... it was a thing
of beauty." UPDATE 04-14-03 Another High School Shooting
in New ORleans. We need to give kids positive activities to teach
them compassion instead of violence.
If we want to stop the
violence and give all kids a sense of compassion for life, we must teach
them that compassion through positive activities. In our program
kids learn compassion, responsibility, self esteem, confidence and service through helping train
and care for homeless puppies. Maybe we can prevent kids from
becoming violent by teaching them compassion for life. They learn the benefits of positive
praise and the rewarding satisfaction of training a helpless puppy.
They gain confidence, self esteem and many more values by performing with
their trained pups which will help them
in their lives.

Stewart's new
family not only took our 6 week training which he excelled at, but took
the therapy dog test and passed. He is not only picking up the
kids from school with mom, sleeping on his little girl's bed every
night, but visiting kids in the hospital. And to think that his
original owner threw him away at 3 years old after he spent 3 years
abandonned in his dog run year-round, and called us to take him
after he no longer could stud him out to breed. (He had the
dullest coat and seizures when he was given to us by his owner, and with
his new loving family that keeps him indoors, he has had absolutely no
seizures and is shiny and healthy). |
