SNUGGLES Blind Senior Maltese/Poodle was just rescued From Camarillo CA shelter thanks to ARianna,  He is loving, shaved since he was so negledted. He has put his weight back on, finds his way around his foster mom's mansion, loves to be cuddled and loved. Needs blind experienced dog home that will never let him out of their site, off leash, a big responsibility. Come read his foster mom's wonderful description of him and how loving he is though he is blind. He gets along just fine in the house and loves people, dogs and cats.

I got your little boy out of the shelter in time to spend Thanksgiving with us. I wanted to tell you a little bit about him as he’s a very special little man.  I’ve been calling him “Snuggles” because that’s what he loves to do.  He just loves to be held!

As you know he has no vision and very little, if any, hearing – but he’s so present and alive, loves just being here.  He loves to snoop around finding his way but remembers pretty quickly for an old guy!  Probably comes from lots of experience.

I know you are a groomer so you will not be pleased with the “shelter” cut he got. He was pretty much mangled by them grooming-wise, poor baby.  I’ve tried to “clean up” their terrible “cut” a bit but he’ll be beautiful when it grows out.  He had a few burn spots on him from the shaver but we put Neosporin on and he’s healing wonderfully from that.

He was apparently filthy when he came in to the shelter, with lots of mats, so they just shaved him completely!  He’s pretty naked…but I’ve got a warm sweater for him that he loves.

He really likes his soft bed with his fleece blankee – his old bones hurt I’m sure, although he gets around quite well, and he loves being able to just lay down.  He sleeps quite a lot, which is expected coming out the environment he was in.  He loves things peaceful and without a lot of traffic.  I have a nice, quiet corner for him where

he can just relax and rest with plenty of water for him – he loves to drink! Again, it may have been the stress or that he’s on quite a lot of antibiotics.

He’s got an ointment for his eyes (2 times a day) because they get very dry and hurt plus he’s on antibiotics (2 times a day) which he gobbles up when I mix them in his food.  He LOVES to eat and I’m so happy to see him eat so well.  He seems very well housebroken…I take him out several times a day and he does his little business outside – what a good boy he is.

When you rub and pat him his little tail just wags and wags – he really likes being loved (don’t we all).  I sit on the floor with him and he climbs onto my lap so I can just give him hugs and kisses and he so enjoys that interaction.  It makes him feel like he’s the only one.  As he has no sight and very little hearing he can be startled if you sneak up on him…so I very gently put my hand in front of his nose so he knows I’m there and then pet him.  Again, he’s very, very gentle and sweet – the only reason I do that is not to startle or scare him.

I’ve got another little Maltese girl I rescued three weeks ago – she’s only 3 yrs. but is paralyzed (although doing better every day,we’re hoping one day she’ll walk again)plus I’ve got two healthy teacup Yorkies and two kitties.  He gets along with all of them so he’s an exceptional boy.  Not a mean bone in his little body and so appreciative of everything you do for him. I just know he will love being your special boy.

It has been a privilege for me to take care of him for you in the interim.  He has left a real mark on me and he will be missed tremendously – but he’s a lucky boy having such a wonderful momma waiting for him. I just know his life is going to be the most fantastic he’s ever had to date.  Surprisingly he’s in pretty good shape for an old guy.

His nails definitely need clipping, they didn’t do that at the shelter but as you’re a groomer he should be one gorgeous guy. Please keep me posted on his progress and send pics!

Thank you so much for taking this special boy into your life and your heart – he will definitely steal it away!

You are an angel on earth and I wish you all the best with this special little man and finding him a loving mom…

They found him just wandering the street, shivering with cold - and filthy. He was all matted so the shelter basically had to do a hatchet job on him - shaving him completely. Unfortunately he had some burns from that shave on his hind legs and tail - but I put Neosporin on him and he's healing just great.

He gets a RX eye ointment twice daily because he's got really bad cataracts and his little eyes get dry. He's also on antibiotics twice daily and has very bad peridontal disease - needs to get some treatment poor baby. He will do great with no anesthesia and Oxy Fresh tooth tartar remover and he will be seeing a Holistic Veterinarian in the Bay Area.   His appetite is great and he's eating very well, he LOVES BEING LOVED - just holding him and petting him, he's in Heaven. I take him out three times a day and he does his business like a very good boy.
He sleeps quite a bit but loves just being with you. He's absolutely no trouble whatsoever! An ideal little gentleman.

He gets along great with my other three dogs - two Yorkies and Maltese plus two kitties. However, he really would love to be in a home where he's the only guy if possible - only because he needs more attention and care. Perhaps someone who also has another older pup - he would be a great and wonderful, loving member of your family. No kids please as he deserves to live the rest of his life in relative peace and calm!

Anyway, if anyone has a big space in their hearts for this most wonderful boy please let us know! He's an angel.

Much love,

Arianna

now that its so cold. I simply cannot imagine my little Pooh or Snuggles out there (and Snuggles WAS)!!!

I have to tell you about him, little rascal. He LOVES to eat so I'm feeding him 3 times a day in order to build him up, which he's already gaining weight.

Well, last night this little man sits up on his rear legs and waves with his front paws!!!!! Is that THE cutest thing you've ever heard??? He was just so precious I started crying and just grabbed him up and hugged him so tight!!! He's a mess now that he's feeling better. And again, the fact that he's so well behaved and housebroken...I cannot imagine this dog getting out and someone not looking for him. What a tragedy - oh well, now he's found and has a loving foster mom until his long term mom can be found.
Whoever gets this one is getting something really special...I just adore him!

Hugs & Smooches,

AXX

Overall, he's in very good shape now and I won't feel bad about having him transported. Before it was a concern because he was so weak and sick but he's doing just great now.  I really wish I could keep this boy - he's so precious.  You really need to promise me you'll find an owner who will understand just how lucky they are to have him and will lavish attention and affection on him.  I'm always hugging and kissing him and he just loves to be held and made over...he groans because he loves it!!!  What a sweet boy he is after all he's been through.

Again, let them know that he is totally blind (although he does get a sense of light) - and he's nearly completely deaf - only hears loud noises or when you speak very loudly.  He needs to be supervised constantly because of his blindness - they cannot just let him out anywhere by himself - he always has to have someone there with him at all times. (Listen to me, like a mother hen)!!!  Otherwise, he's great - he knows the house like the back of his hand and he gets around quite well.  He sleeps alot and interacts with the other dogs and kitties just fine - again, he's a perfect gentleman!!! Happy New Year!!!

Denise:

I've thought long and hard this weekend and I will be keeping Snuggles myself.  He's such a precious baby that I'll just find some way to make things work...he's so easygoing with everything and everyone - loves everybody, that while I'm gone my sister will fly out to watch him for me - along with my other pups.

He's become so much a part of the family, and he's so bonded with us and the other animals, that it would be a shame to uproot him.  He's had such a hard little life up until now that I know I'll just worry terribly about who might get him, if they'll just leave him alone and not give him enough attention or not be happy if he's not moving fast enough, you never know.  At least this way I'm certain he's got a tremendously loving, caring and safe home to call his own!  He deserves nothing less.
