SPECIAL
NEEDS CORNER:
DB COOPER has performed all summer so
well, jumping his chairs, hoops, into Elizabeth's lap, and skateboarding.
He needs to go to a mature adult with no kids, willing to keep training and
socializing him with new people, kids and dogs, and who loves to continue his
trick training and performing with our Kids Club.

*These dogs are in foster
care, getting socialization and training.

BRIGITTE
3 yr. small with one blue eye Wirehaired Jack Russell Terrier mix little
girl is
adorable, smart and loving. Needs lots of training not to
run and to do tricks. Only responsible adult home
please, no young
kids for small breed dogs or boys. Crate-trained, and starting her
obedience
training in our kids club. Congratulations Gina for getting
her trust, respect and attention and not only teaching her to
sit at attention, but fun tricks like jumping, shaking hands
and begging perfectly. Amazing how quickly she is
learning now. Can't wait to show off these tricks at the
assemblies.

PRECIOUS is 6
months old now and the most gorgeous Flame Point longhaired Siamese boy with blue
eyes. He is so fluffy. round and so loving. He loves
other cats, dogs and people. He gets around just great to play as
long as he is safe in the home. He needs a retired person at home
to cuddle and play with. He has a permanent respiratory problem
that can flare up at times since he got so sick as a 6 wk kitten when
brought to the shelter. He
is so trusting. He had a special surgery to remove his back
leg, and found a special home that is calm, no
kids, and always safe indoors in his own room of toys, loving kitty
friend that cleans him, and plays with little Yorki that is so gentle. Thank you
Dr. Bagley and Dr. Ampsh for saving his life!

This is the kind of
dedicated and willing to listen home we look for: Thank you Kendall for
offering to give Brigitte a wonderful caring, safe, and responsible home:
my
name is kendall and i must apologize for not getting back to you on mon. i
want to answer
as many of your questions as i possibly can. i live in my own home on three
acres on the edge of a
very small town by the name of absarokee,mt. we are 56 miles sw of billings. i
have one daughter she is 22 yrs old and away at school. in the past i have
had many cats and 6 dogs. my beloved white
german sheperd was given to me by my parents when i lived in colorado. she was
11 yrs old when she died suddenly of a brain annurism. her best friend and
companion in life was a cattle dog of mixed sorts brought into my life by my
first husband,he was around 15 yrs old when our vet. put him down at her
insistance because of cancer. my first husband also had two chessies. both lived
to be
maybe 9 or ten?? we divorced and he took them with him although i loved them
very much. my daughter wanted a bulldog,a breed i know nothing about. we found a
breeder in n.d. and she sold us a
pet quality pup??? ellie (the dog) had many defects. an ethical breeder would
not have sold this pup to anyone. our vet. helped us through 5 yrs. of
heartwrenching decisions we loved ellie, she was so innocent and so sweet but
just medical problems one after another. in the end ellie developed some sort of
septecemia(sp?) and we were advised to put her down. it was so sad and i miss
her so. now
we have a wonderful mutt. i went to the farmers market in 1995 to buy potatoes
and squash, a little
boy had a litter of puppies- two left. one white one and one black. i fell in
love with the white one. he had a stubby tail, probably froze off at birth. we
were told that his mom was aussie but that he had an unknown father. we
have had him ever since. his name is kramer. we live in a mining town where
people come and go -- and as they do this they have a very bad habit of leaving
their most prized possessions behind-cats and dogs! i do not know why but alot
of the cats end up at our front porch.
i have 6 indoor cats, and at least 4 front porch kitties. some of them i can pet
some of them not. i feed them and make beds for them to sleep in during the
winters. one of my vets. helps me with spaying and neutering and shots for these
semi-wild cats. i feed them. of my 6 indoor cats two were
given to me by owners that no longer wanted them and 4 were wild cats that
ended up on my front porch and they were not wild at all. in fact someone went
to the trouble and expense to declaw them and spay/neuter them then just leave
them to fend for themselves. i love them all along with kramer and would never
think of leaving them behind if i ever had to move!! people make me so mad and
sad. okay, back to some of your answers. our three acres is fenced, but, it is a
four strand barb wire to keep cattle out. did i just kill any chance?? i would
most certainly agree to further training of brigitte. i believe the 4h club in
the next little town(columbus) has classes. and that petsmart in billings has
classes. my husband and i both work, i work a rotating shift and a strange
schedule. four on,three off, three on, one off, four on seven off. my husband
works four tens straight days.!!!!! so it seems that someone is almost always
around and if the animals are home alone it's not for long. when we are at work
kramer stays in the house. he is only in the yard when we are home. every
morning one of us takes kramer up the hill behind our house. it's a pasture that
belongs to a rancher that we know and it's at least 4 or 5 hundred acres. when
the weather is nice in the spring and summer we go all the way up the hill after
work and take long long walks. kramer loves to play ball and frisbee. we live at
the base of the absaroka mts. and in the summer on our days off together we go
hiking, kramer loves to go and he is always on a leash. my sister in co. has a
rottie x that is crate trained and that is about as familiar as i get with
crate training. none of the dogs in all my life were crate trained. but,if it
were necessary for brigitte i'd learn and comply. i would gladly have my drs.
send letters to you telling you about myself and how i am with my pets. also, i
welcome home visits.
i am a good person and love all animals. whenever possible i feed the birds in
blgs. or the ducks. i feed the deer in winter that come down from the pasture. i
feed millions of birds in my yards.and of course all my porch kitties. i can
tell that brigitte looks like a sweetheart! she looks alot like kramer. oh, and
by the way, kramer is not a big dog, he is neutered and he is a sissy!!
when we go on vacation this weekend, our local vet. tech. will be babysitting.
one of our cats is 17 yrs old and a diabetic, he gets shots of insulin twice a
day and a pill. maybe that can give you an idea as to how much we love our
animals-- opie, thats the diabetic cat is a big commitment. we are always home
to give him his shots. this is the first vacation that we have ever been on and
we are only able to do this because we trust our vet tech to give opie his shots
and feed the other cats and take care of kramer and walk him and feed all the
porch kitties. does brigitte like to go for drives? kramer hates to go in
the car otherwise we would take him along.
well, it's been nice chatting with you. please consider us for your very special
little girl. just knowing that you will have her until you find the right home
makes me happier. so many dogs and cats that don't have someone to love
them--and thats all they ask of us. can you believe that we call them man's best
friend then treat them like we do?? god bless you-- you are an angel here on
earth.
an animal friend in mt.

HOW CAN WE STOP THIS?
A teenager was selling 11
German Shepherd/Border Collie mix puppies on Center St. in Orem yesterday and
told us that she would not fix her German Shepherd females who have 2 litters a
year. Who knows what will happen to these puppies. No special screening of
homes just give her $50 and the pups are yours. This has got to stop!
Denise,
Sophie just turned 1 year old.
She has calmed down and is becoming a very good dog. She loves us and we
love her. We had to have our black lab put to sleep this summer because
his cancer got so bad. Thank you again for saving this sweet littler
girl dog.

BY HAVING WONDERFUL
FAMILIES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE LIKE THESE SHOW THE EXAMPLE:
Dear Denise,
Denise
Dear Denise,
Denise,
Thank you so much for
picking us as Tau's family. We adore him. Everywhere we go people
comment on how well behaved he is, how handsome he is and how BIG he is!! We
thank you also for trusting us to be family to Princess and PK (Pretty Kitty).
They are the BEST cats. PK has taken quite a liking to Bob. And
both are great with the girls! Tau LOVES Princess....Princess is still
thinking about it. She lets Tau sniff her and lick her...but when she's
had enough, she tries to walk away VERY slowly.
What great additions to our family. When it's Kesia's time, we hope to be
able to adopt a young female dog from you! Will talk to you soon.
Love to you and yours,
Angela Sanscrainte (New Hampshire)
